The Six Nations Championship is an annual international rugby union competition contested by the national teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales. It is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the sport and is played annually during the months of February and March. Each team plays the other five teams once, resulting in a total of 15 matches. The team that finishes with the most points at the end of the tournament is crowned the champion. The Six Nations Championship has a long history, dating back to the first international rugby match between Scotland and England in 1871. It has evolved over the years and has been played in its current format, with the addition of Italy, since 2000.
