2017:

The big hitters of the game come to the lucrative IPL tournament to show off their unique cricketing skills. Which Indian Premier league team will be victorious in 2017? Take a look below to learn a bit about the teams that make up the competition.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are the 2017 favourites and it is easy to see why with the likes of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, A B de Villiers, Shane Watson and Tymal Mills in their squad! Having said that, their past performances might suggest that they do not have enough bottle having reached the final on 3 occasions (2009, 2011 and 2106) and lost all of them including last years IPL final. So even with the absolute stars of world T20 cricket the odds suggest that they are only just favourites having never lifted the trophy.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are among the bookies favourites and have strengthened in the spin bowling area for this years tournament. They may struggle a little bit with their batting line up as although David Warner batted sensationally to take them to the 2016 IPL title, it is a risk to keep relying on him. But with the audacious, talented, big hitting Warner in the team it could be worth having a punt on SRH!

The Mumbai Indians are very strong in the fast bowling department with the strike power of Australian Mitchell Johnson and the fit again Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga. However their batting seems to be a bit lacking at the top of the order but they do have the explosive, game changing Jos Butler in their ranks who could prove a pivotal figure! The MI (Mumbai Indians) are historically a very successful team having won the IPL tournament in 2013 and 2015. They could have a chance with the prolific wicket takers but some believe they will fall short in the number of runs they can score...but if an on form Jos Butler turns up they could just rack up some big scores, and at 5 to 1 they could definitely be worth a bet!

Have the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) put all their eggs in one basket by shelling out a lot of money for the brilliant all rounder Ben Stokes? Their odds have definitely got shorter since they have signed him. Albeit a brilliant signing, the RPS are short of quality fast bowlers and may struggle to take wickets that will impact the game. One of the newer franchises in the IPL tournament, nobody really knows how they will perform.

The Delhi Daredevils (DD) have never made the final of the IPL tournament but have finished at the top of the table twice. Having said that they have a reputation for propping up the table and being handed the wooden spoon! The DD have strengthened well in 2017 signing Kagiso Rabada and Pat Cummins who could win games on their own.

The Gujarat Lions (GL) really have some power hitters in their squad with the likes of Jason Roy, Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch. And if they all hit form they will be able to amass HUGE totals. They also have the highly skilled Dwayne Bravo to call upon to change a game or control an innings. The GL are one of the teams that are replacements for the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals as they serve their respective 2 year suspensions.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) do not seem to have the strongest of squads and may come up a little short. Where they may have some success is in the bowling department having added Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile to their team. They also have the impressive all-rounder Chris Woakes who could win them some games. They have won the IPL twice before (2012 and 2014) but it will be a stretch for them to win it this year and their odds reflect that.

Kings XI Punjab (KIXP) have never won the IPL tournament since their formati
